“State Deception” — IPOB Rejects New Terrorism Sponsors List

Zoyols News

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially rejected the Nigerian government’s latest list of “terrorism sponsors,” labeling the move as a deceptive strategy aimed at misleading the public. In a detailed statement released on April 13, 2026, the group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, argued that the publication is politically motivated and designed to frustrate their ongoing quest for self-determination.

According to reports monitored by Zoyols News, the group, which remains under the leadership of Nnamdi Kanu, questioned the credibility of the list. They accused the government of hypocrisy, suggesting that the state has failed to address genuine violence against civilians while focusing its energy on labeling advocacy groups. IPOB maintains that its activities are rooted in lawful rights advocacy and should not be confused with terrorism.

The group pointed to a long history of grievances and alleged human rights violations in the South-East, stating that these injustices are the primary drivers of their movement. They emphasized that seeking dignity and justice for the Igbo people is a fundamental right and not a criminal act. The statement further noted that labeling the movement as terror-related is a tired propaganda tool that will not stop their progress.

Adding to their concerns, IPOB highlighted the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, describing his situation as a clear example of the government’s attempt to silence dissenting voices. They insisted that the campaign for Biafra remains a non-negotiable priority and urged the international community to look past what they described as state-sponsored misinformation.

Despite the official designation and the public naming of individuals, the movement remains firm in its resolve. The leadership stressed that they would not be intimidated by political labels or government pressure, vowing to continue their agitation until they achieve what they describe as ultimate justice for their people.
