Nigeria’s Super Eagles will begin their journey toward qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with a home clash against Madagascar in Uyo.
The opening fixture is scheduled for September 23 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as the three time African champions look to secure a place at the continental tournament.
The qualification schedule was confirmed following the official draw for the 2027 AFCON, which will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19, 2027.
After facing Madagascar in Uyo, the Super Eagles will travel to Guinea Bissau four days later for their second group game as the qualifiers continue.
Nigeria will then return home to face Tanzania on November 11 to complete the first round of matches in the qualifying series.
The Super Eagles were drawn in Group L, where only the top two teams will secure qualification for the 24 team tournament.
However, because Tanzania are one of the host nations for the competition, the qualification situation could change if they finish among the top teams in the group. In that case, only one other team would qualify alongside the co hosts.
With qualification now officially underway, Nigerian fans will be hoping the Super Eagles make a strong start as preparations begin for another attempt at continental glory.
