Tinubu inaugurates ablution centre at Kaduna mosque

ZoyolsBlog

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday commissioned a newly built ablution centre at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, a facility designed to serve at least 300 worshippers at once.

The project, executed by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) as part of its corporate social responsibility, also features 50 restrooms, VIP sections, and a 300,000-litre overhead water tank to guarantee steady water supply for both the mosque and the surrounding Ungwan Sarki community.

Before this intervention, the mosque had relied on a smaller facility that struggled to cope with the large turnout of worshippers, particularly during Friday Juma’at prayers. The upgrade is now expected to ease that pressure and improve worshippers’ experience.

President Tinubu, who was in Kaduna to attend the wedding of Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s son, described the project as a symbol of unity and an example of corporate organisations contributing positively to society.

He arrived in the state shortly after 1 p.m. and was welcomed at the airport by Governor Uba Sani, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and other top dignitaries before heading to the mosque.

The wedding fatiha took place immediately after the Juma’at prayers and drew an impressive list of attendees, including governors, ministers, clerics, traditional rulers, and former lawmakers. In his sermon ahead of the prayers, Shaikh Bala Lau described the ceremony as significant, especially considering the calibre of guests present to honour the Yari family.

Security was visibly tight around the mosque. Only invited guests were granted entry, forcing many worshippers to observe their prayers outside. Both plain-clothes and uniformed security personnel were deployed at strategic points leading to the venue.

After the ceremony, President Tinubu, accompanied by Governor Uba Sani and other officials, paid a visit to the family home of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. There, he was received by Buhari’s widow, Aisha Buhari, alongside the former president’s children, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda, and other family members.

Aisha Buhari expressed her appreciation for the president’s visit and warm show of solidarity.
