Trump Backs Netanyahu Ahead of Israel’s Election

zoyolsnews

US President Donald Trump has thrown his full support behind Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 election, describing him as a strong leader and a key ally in the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Trump announced his endorsement on Sunday through his Truth Social platform, declaring his “complete and total” support for Netanyahu’s bid to secure another term in office.

He urged Israeli voters to return Netanyahu to power, expressing confidence in the prime minister’s leadership and ability to maintain the close relationship between Israel and the United States.

“Bibi Netanyahu will never let you down,” Trump wrote in his message, making his position clear as the Israeli leader faces a competitive election.

Netanyahu quickly responded to the endorsement, thanking Trump for his support and highlighting their cooperation on security matters.

“Thank you, President Trump, for your tremendous support and for our work together. Together we will complete the mission!” Netanyahu wrote on X.

Trump described Netanyahu as a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and praised his role as an ally in the war against Iran, which began in late February with an extensive bombing campaign.

The conflict has continued as Tehran retaliates, including by disrupting global energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for international oil and gas trade.

In his endorsement, Trump argued that Netanyahu’s continued leadership was important to Washington’s efforts to confront Iran’s government. He warned that the United States could be left to handle the challenge largely on its own if Israel elected a different prime minister.

Trump also referred to Iran’s longstanding anti American and anti Israeli rhetoric, insisting that Israel needed a leader willing to work closely with Washington to counter the perceived threat.

“If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so,” the US president said.

He further stressed that the United States expected Israel to remain a reliable partner, pointing to the support Washington had provided the country over the years.

The endorsement comes at a crucial moment for Netanyahu, Israel’s longest serving prime minister, as he seeks another mandate amid security concerns and the continuing conflict with Iran.

Trump’s public intervention also underscores the close political and strategic relationship between the two leaders, with the outcome of the Israeli election likely to shape the country’s leadership and its cooperation with Washington in the months ahead.
