Hon. Salisu Sabo, the APC chieftain better known as Salisiyya Amana, says people in Bauchi State are taking fresh notice of what former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, SAN, delivered in office, especially in education and agriculture, even with limited funds.
Sabo, a prominent backer of the former governor, made the assessment while weighing Abubakar’s record and his prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said the former governor merited recognition for work that improved living conditions across the state.
He pointed to fertiliser, better farm inputs and insecticides that lifted production, and to education programmes that residents can now see more clearly. Those gains, he argued, have fed calls from some quarters for Abubakar to return to the political stage.
The former House of Representatives candidate said the administration inherited debts and other burdens from earlier governments, and that its results should be judged against what Bauchi could actually afford, not against richer states or countries.
Salisiyya also praised Governor Bala Mohammed for keeping a peaceful tone and discouraging political violence. He still asked the governor to keep a level field for every party before 2027, and appealed to security agencies to stay neutral so candidates can campaign without intimidation.
We need a peaceful and violence free election, he said. Security agencies should not be biased so that we can have a free, fair and peaceful poll.
