The leadership of the African Democratic Congress in Sokoto State has come forward to officially debunk claims regarding the party membership of Senator Abubakar Gada. During a press briefing held on Monday in Sokoto, the state chairman, Alhaji Bello Isiyaku-Keegan, made it clear that the Senator was never a registered member of the party.
Isiyaku-Keegan pointed out to Reports that joining a political party is a formal and documented process. It requires specific registration procedures that leave a verifiable paper trail in official records. According to the chairman, Senator Gada who represented the Sokoto East Senatorial District under the PDP between 2007 and 2011 never completed these steps and does not appear in any ADC register at the ward, local government, or state levels.
The ADC expressed serious concern that a politician of Gada’s experience would publicly claim an affiliation that does not exist. The party leadership described the situation as both regrettable and curious, questioning why someone who has served in the National Assembly would circulate such information knowing he had never officially joined the fold.
During the briefing, the chairman also clarified that neither Senator Aminu Tambuwal nor Senator Gada are on the party’s books. He remarked that such claims are a form of careless political communication that falls short of the honesty and accountability voters expect from their leaders.
This development follows reports that Gada, acting as a figurehead within an ADC coalition, had announced a return to the Peoples Democratic Party. He had cited structural and leadership challenges within the coalition as his reason for moving back to the PDP to help rebuild the party for the 2027 elections.
However, the ADC maintains that you cannot leave a party you never truly joined. Isiyaku-Keegan noted that the ADC remains dedicated to its goals of integrity and internal democracy, focusing on building a credible platform for the people of Sokoto rather than engaging in misleading political narratives.
