Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has mourned the passing of Prince Tunde Ponle, the Chief Executive Officer of MicCom Cables & Wires, describing it as the loss of a giant in business and philanthropy.
Prince Ponle, who reportedly died on Sunday at the age of 85, was widely respected not only for his business acumen but also for his deep commitment to giving back to society. He was the proprietor of a well-known golf course in his hometown, Ada, in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State, and his contributions extended far beyond the business sector.
In a statement issued through his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke highlighted the late industrialist’s enduring impact on Osun State’s economy and social development. “I’m visibly shaken to learn about the passing of Chief Prince Tunde Laoye,” the governor said. “Prince Ponle was a model citizen, using his intellect and God-given abilities to address some of society’s challenges.”
Adeleke also noted Ponle’s generosity toward education and health. His multi-million dollar contributions to Osun State University, including a dedicated building and the MicCom Cancer Centre, have left lasting benefits for students and the community. The governor added that the MicCom Golf and Recreation Centre in Ada continues to drive economic activity in the region, further reflecting the late CEO’s vision and commitment to societal growth.
“His passing at 85 is deeply saddening because Osun has lost one of its best,” Governor Adeleke said. He extended heartfelt condolences to Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Titi Laoye-Ponle, the children, extended family, and all who were touched by Prince Ponle’s life. The governor prayed for the repose of his soul and for divine comfort and strength for the family and the people of Osun State during this difficult time.
Prince Tunde Ponle’s legacy as a businessman, philanthropist, and community leader will continue to inspire generations in Osun State and beyond.
