Adeleke Vows to Complete Osun Projects Despite Withheld Funds

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his commitment to completing all ongoing projects across the state, declaring that no political plot or withheld funds would stop his administration’s development drive.

Adeleke made this known during an inspection of the Lagere Flyover and other key infrastructure projects in Ile Ife, where he was received by a cheering crowd. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and described the transformation efforts as part of his administration’s resolve to modernise Ile Ife and other major towns across Osun.

The governor explained that upgrading infrastructure remains central to his vision for economic growth and sustainable development. He said Ile Ife, regarded as the spiritual and cultural capital of the Yoruba people, deserves nothing short of the best in terms of infrastructure and investment, lamenting that the city had suffered long years of neglect under previous administrations.

Adeleke accused the opposition of working behind the scenes to frustrate progress by ensuring that state funds were withheld. According to him, such actions were part of a calculated plan to slow down his government’s achievements. Despite these challenges, he vowed that all ongoing projects, including the flyovers and township roads in Ilesa, Iwo, Ila Orangun and Osogbo, would be completed.

“I am pleased with the progress we have made in our mission to modernise Ile Ife,” the governor said. “Some people doubted our vision, but we have always believed that Osun deserves the best. We are breaking away from the old story of abandoned projects and diverted funds. Our focus is clear — Osun’s money must serve Osun’s people. That principle is what guides every step we take in developing our communities.”

He revealed that nearly N100 billion belonging to the state had been unfairly withheld in what he described as a deliberate attempt to stall critical projects. Yet, he maintained that his administration would remain focused and would not allow political distractions to derail its mission of rebuilding Osun and positioning it as both an economic hub and a tourism destination in the Southwest.

The governor also issued a stern warning to contractors and government officials overseeing various projects, stressing that he would not tolerate substandard work or any form of project abandonment.

In response, the site engineer, Michael Adebiyi, assured Adeleke that the Lagere Flyover would be completed before the end of December, pledging the contractor’s commitment to delivering quality work within the set timeline.

Adeleke’s visit to Ile Ife, once again underscored his government’s determination to restore the state’s infrastructure and ensure that public funds are used strictly for the people’s benefit.
