Arsenal 6-Point Clear After Dominating Win Against Fulham

Zoyols News

Arsenal have tightened their grip on the Premier League title race, moving six points clear at the summit following a commanding performance against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium. The victory serves as a major statement of intent from Mikel Arteta’s side, putting significant pressure on Manchester City. While City still hold two games in hand, the Gunners have ensured that their rivals have no room for error heading into their Monday night fixture against Everton.

The afternoon belonged to Bukayo Saka and Viktor Gyokeres, both of whom were instrumental in dismantling the visitors. Saka, returning to the starting lineup for the first time since a lingering Achilles injury in March, looked sharp from the opening whistle. In just the ninth minute, he effortlessly bypassed Raul Jimenez on the wing and delivered a perfect ball to Gyokeres, who tapped in his 20th league goal of a remarkable season.

The roles were reversed shortly before the halftime interval. Gyokeres turned provider, sliding a neat pass into the path of Saka, who showed trademark composure to curl a low strike past former Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno. Not content with just one, Gyokeres struck again in first-half stoppage time, rising highest to meet a Leandro Trossard cross and effectively ending the contest before the teams headed into the tunnels.

Arsenal’s dominance was so total that the margin could have been even wider. Riccardo Calafiori saw a headed effort crash against the crossbar, and the Italian was also denied a goal earlier in the match due to a narrow offside call. The comfortable lead allowed Mikel Arteta the luxury of managing his squad’s fitness, having already made five changes to the starting eleven prior to kickoff.

With the points secured, Arteta withdrew Saka at the break to keep him fresh for the high-stakes European midweek action. The focus at the Emirates now shifts rapidly to Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid. With that tie currently locked at 1-1, the Gunners will be hoping to carry this domestic momentum into their quest for continental glory.
