The Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Samaila Bagudo, has been abducted by suspected bandits, throwing the state into tension.

According to information gathered by reports, the attack occurred on Friday night, October 31, 2025, at about 8:20 p.m., when heavily armed men stormed Bagudo town in Bagudo Local Government Area. The lawmaker was reportedly on his way home after observing Isha’i prayers when he was seized by the assailants.

Confirming the incident, the state police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said a joint operation involving police tactical teams, military personnel, and local vigilantes had been launched to rescue the lawmaker. He noted that the combined forces are combing suspected bandits’ routes and nearby forests in an effort to ensure his safe return and arrest those behind the abduction.

Abubakar described the act as a “dastardly attack” that would not go unpunished, assuring residents that the command remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

He also urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could help the ongoing rescue operation.

The abduction of Hon. Bagudo has sparked widespread concern among residents, who have called for urgent action to address the growing insecurity in the region.
