Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea have all booked their places in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals after a thrilling round of fourth-round fixtures on Wednesday night, Zoyols Blog reports.
Defending champions Newcastle United kept their title defense alive with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park. Fabian Schar opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a powerful header from Sandro Tonali’s corner, while Nick Woltemade doubled the lead early in the second half after connecting with Jacob Ramsey’s cross.
Over in Wales, Manchester City showed resilience to overturn an early deficit and defeat Championship side Swansea 3-1. The hosts took the lead through Goncalo Franco’s strike in the 12th minute, but City roared back before the break as Jeremy Doku’s deflected shot leveled the game in the 39th minute. Omar Marmoush put the visitors ahead midway through the second half, and Rayan Cherki sealed the win with a late stoppage-time finish to complete the comeback.
At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal extended their winning streak to eight games in all competitions with a solid 2-0 victory over Brighton. The Gunners displayed control and precision throughout, securing their place in the last eight with a composed performance in front of their home fans.
Chelsea also advanced after a 4-2 win, powered by a quick start that saw Andrey Santos find the net within five minutes. Tyrique George and Estevao Willian added two more before halftime to give the Blues a commanding lead. Despite a spirited second-half fightback from the opposition — with Toluwalase Arokodare and David Wolfe finding the back of the net — Chelsea held firm. Even after Liam Delap’s late red card, substitute Jamie Gittens restored their two-goal cushion before Wolfe grabbed a consolation in the dying moments.
The victories mean Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Newcastle all remain firmly in contention for this season’s Carabao Cup crown, setting up what promises to be an electrifying quarter-final lineup.
