Edo Governor: Tinubu’s Reforms Reshaping Governance

Zoyols Blog

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has come out strongly in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, lauding his administration’s bold economic reforms, visionary policies, and developmental programs. According to the Governor, these measures are actively transforming governance and driving national development across the country.

Governor Okpebholo highlighted that the crucial financial support provided by the Federal Government to various states has been instrumental in funding meaningful developmental projects. As an example, he referenced the ongoing construction of vital bridges and other infrastructural works currently taking place within Edo State.

The Governor made his remarks in Benin City during the “City Boy Movement program,” an empowerment initiative designed to provide support to over 200 youths in the state.

“These projects are made possible through the support of President Tinubu,” Governor Okpebholo stated. “I urge all Edo people to continue supporting the President, whose reforms, though tough, are essential for Nigeria’s progress.”

He affirmed that his own administration is focused on delivering tangible progress and development equally across all three senatorial districts of Edo State.

Focus on Education and Youth Empowerment

The state Commissioner for Education and Director of the City Boy Movement in Edo State, Paddy Iyamu, specifically praised President Tinubu for launching the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Iyamu asserted that NELFUND guarantees that no child in Edo State will be forced to abandon their education due to financial hardship.

Iyamu also took the opportunity to detail the achievements of Governor Okpebholo’s administration within its first year. These accomplishments include the construction of 68 new schools across the state, the sponsorship of five Edo students for three years of study in China, and the provision of ₦1 billion in student bursaries, among other initiatives.

Adding to the conversation on youth development, the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, offered a clear charge to Nigerian youths: acquire a minimum of two relevant skills. The Minister declared that this focused approach is the only sustainable way to effectively tackle the widespread challenge of unemployment.

Olawande stressed that skilled young people represent a significant asset to the nation. He explained, “That is why the federal government focuses its time and resources on skill development by establishing the national youth skill platform.”
