Former Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige, is currently being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraudulent transactions involving a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity.
According to sources, Ngige was arrested on Wednesday and is being interrogated at the EFCC’s Abuja zonal office in Wuse. He is set to be arraigned on Friday, facing allegations of involvement in fraudulent transactions worth billions of naira.
This is not Ngige’s first brush with corruption investigations. He was previously questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged contract irregularities and job racketeering at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), a parastatal under his ministry.
The EFCC has yet to officially confirm the development.
