Nigeria’s Flamingos are gearing up for a crucial phase in their campaign as they prepare to take on the best of the world’s young football talents at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. In the buildup to the tournament, the team will face stiff tests against New Zealand and Paraguay in friendly matches scheduled for October 10th and 14th.
The Flamingos have arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, aboard Royal Air Maroc, marking the final leg of their preparations for the tournament. They will settle into camp in Casablanca before moving to Rabat, where the competition will take place. On October 15, the team will join other participating nations at the official FIFA hotel in Rabat.
The Flamingos are in Group D, alongside football powerhouses Canada and France, as well as Samoa. Their campaign kicks off on October 19 against Canada, followed by a match against France three days later. Their final group stage encounter will be against Samoa on October 25. All matches are scheduled to take place in the city of Sale.
Under the guidance of Head Coach Bankole Olowookere, the Flamingos have been in top form, scoring an impressive 44 goals in 10 tune-up matches without conceding any. This dominant display has instilled confidence in the following rounds. With a well-balanced squad, the team is determined to surpass their quarter-final finish in the last edition, held in the Dominican Republic.
