Itsekiri Youths Urge Federal Gov’t to Secure Niger Delta Pipelines

Zoyols News

The Itsekiri Youths for Good Governance (IYGG) has called on the federal government to prioritize transparency and strict oversight in the management of pipeline surveillance contracts across the Niger Delta. In a formal statement released on Monday, the group argued that the safety and operational efficiency of these vital assets depend on a more structured approach to monitoring and security.

According to the leadership of the IYGG, pipeline surveillance is far more than a routine task; it is a critical pillar of national infrastructure protection. The group maintained that such responsibilities should remain in the hands of operators who have demonstrated both technical competence and a proven track record of results. By ensuring that only capable hands are involved, the government can better protect the nation’s economic interests.

The youth organization also emphasized the delicate nature of stability within the Niger Delta region. They highlighted the urgent need for robust operational frameworks that not only safeguard oil infrastructure but also encourage lawful economic growth. As part of their recommendations, the IYGG urged the government to bolster existing security arrangements by providing more resources and tactical support to contractors who have consistently delivered on their mandates.

In a move towards regional harmony, the statement, signed by Chairman Mone Oris and Secretary Metsaghanrun S. Oki, reached out to various community leaders and youth bodies. They appealed for a unified front among stakeholders to ensure that oil infrastructure is managed in a way that benefits everyone. The group believes that collective cooperation is the only way to foster long-term safety and unity in the heart of the nation’s oil-producing communities.
