In a dedicated effort to address the recent surge in criminal activities, the Kano State government, under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, organized a massive special prayer session. The event saw 4,444 Qur’anic reciters dedicate an entire day to fervent supplications for lasting peace and security across the state.

The initiative was confirmed in a statement released on Saturday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Kano State has recently been grappling with worrying incidents of banditry, particularly in the Northern Senatorial District, where 15 persons were abducted and one woman was tragically killed.

The special prayer session was held at the Government House, Kano, and brought together a host of influential figures, including Qur’anic reciters, respected Islamic scholars, traditional rulers, and high-ranking government officials. The goal was a collective act of prayer against the enemies of the state, especially those responsible for the destabilizing security challenges witnessed lately.

Governor Yusuf expressed his sincere gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful and powerful gathering. He seized the opportunity to urge all residents of Kano, especially key stakeholders, to wholeheartedly support the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity. He stressed that the menace of banditry does not discriminate based on political affiliation, social status, or community.

The Governor recalled that the ancient city of Kano and its environs have historically enjoyed divine protection, noting that his administration will continue to embrace both fervent prayers and lawful, strategic measures to ensure the sustenance of peace and tranquility.

Governor Yusuf also appealed to all residents to engage in personal prayers, especially during the late hours of the night, for enduring peace and stability not just in Kano State but across the entire country.

Finally, Governor Yusuf commended the security agencies operating within the state for their continuous support and sacrifices. He affirmed that the cooperation between the agencies and the present administration remains both cordial and highly effective in tackling the security threats.
