Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has warmly welcomed former Bayelsa East Senator Ben Murray-Bruce to the All Progressives Congress following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party.
Murray-Bruce, in a statement shared on his social media accounts, cited his admiration for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, highlighting the President’s financial acumen and commitment to a free-market economy. The former senator expressed confidence that the administration’s economic reforms were laying a solid foundation for Nigeria’s future prosperity. He also commended efforts to tackle insecurity, noting that the appointment of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu had strengthened the country’s security framework, with threats being “quietly and systematically dismantled.”
Responding to Murray-Bruce’s defection on his X handle, Keyamo described him as a man of outspokenness and integrity, qualities that make the APC a fitting political home. He extended a special welcome, emphasizing that the former senator would be regarded as a co-owner of the party’s presence in his state, not merely a back-bencher.
Keyamo wrote, “My dear elder brother @benmurraybruce, I want to specially welcome you to the progressive family. Your antecedents of forthrightness, outspokenness and altruism make the APC a natural home for you. As of today, you are automatically a co-owner of the house in your state, not a back-bencher. That is the tradition in our party, and that is how warmly we welcome everyone. Take a bow for this courageous decision, my big brother!”
