Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, has set the record straight on his future political plans ahead of the 2027 general elections. Contrary to reports suggesting he has thrown his hat into the ring for the governorship or senatorial seat, Obasa insists that no such announcement has been made.
According to him, the decision on his political future, like that of other party members, rests solely with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). “As a politician, you have to wait for the party hierarchy to decide where they want you to go – whether as a lawmaker, governor, or senator,” Obasa explained.
The Speaker urged people not to be misled or misinterpret the party’s plans, advising that tensions should be eased. He emphasized that the main focus should be on moving the country forward, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s daily progress. “Our main focus is how to move the country forward. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making significant progress day by day,” he said.
Obasa also made it clear that he is not quitting politics anytime soon, while also being mindful of life after public service. He expressed his commitment to the APC, describing the party as his strength and its members as family. “Nigeria is our home, our party is our strength, and those of us in the APC are family members. The APC is getting stronger every day,” he noted.
