Peter Obi has defended his record as Anambra governor, insisting he can bring the same improvements to Nigeria if elected president in 2027.
His remarks follow comments by his former running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, who said none of the current opposition figures, including Obi, would improve the country.
Obi said he would cut the cost of governance, fight corruption, restore law and order and ensure credible elections. He added that his priorities would include uniting the country, improving security, and focusing on health, education and poverty reduction.
Baba-Ahmed had earlier said President Tinubu should prepare to hand over power, but not to those currently challenging him. When pressed, he confirmed that his remarks also applied to Peter Obi.
