President Tinubu’s trip to Türkiye is still ongoing, with no official return date confirmed yet. He touched down in Ankara on Monday, January 26, for a series of diplomatic meetings with Turkish business leaders and government officials.
According to the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu was expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the visit, but no specific date was given. Efforts to get an update on the President’s return have been unsuccessful, with Onanuga and another adviser, Daniel Bwala, unavailable for comment.
Sources close to the Presidency reveal that the President’s visit involves crucial business engagements and meetings with top officials, some of which may still be ongoing. Although not everything is being televised, the government is expected to brief Nigerians on the outcomes of the bilateral meetings upon the President’s return.
In fact, officials from Nigeria and Türkiye signed nine agreements on Wednesday, aimed at strengthening cooperation in key sectors. The agreements are a testament to the ongoing efforts to solidify ties between the two countries. Reports gathered that Nigerians should expect a full update on the visit once the President returns.
