Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sent warm felicitations to Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu, Nigeria’s first democratically elected female deputy governor, as she marks her 80th birthday.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, the governor praised Ojikutu’s remarkable legacy of service and integrity. He described her as an accomplished technocrat, a devout Muslim, a firm disciplinarian, and a strong advocate for transparency and good governance.
Sanwo-Olu said Ojikutu remains an outstanding figure in Lagos politics, noting that her leadership alongside former Governor Michael Otedola during the short-lived Third Republic under the National Republican Convention left a lasting imprint on the state’s political history.
He lauded her unwavering commitment to the development of Lagos and her passion for improving the lives of its people, describing her as a shining example of selflessness and patriotism.
According to the governor, Ojikutu’s milestone at 80 is a celebration of a woman who has dedicated her life to public service, governance, and the pursuit of justice. He prayed for her continued good health, peace, and happiness in the years ahead.
Ojikutu’s enduring contributions continue to inspire women in leadership and governance across Nigeria.
