In a grand gesture to celebrate hard work and dedication within the civil service, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has rewarded 177 outstanding public servants with a mix of high-value prizes and cash gifts. The rewards, which included five brand-new cars and a total sum of 165.5 million Naira, were handed out during the 2025 Governor’s Luncheon. The event, held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium in Alausa, Ikeja, served as a platform to honor those who have shown exceptional commitment to their duties across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
The distribution of the rewards was carefully structured to ensure that both senior and junior cadres felt the impact of the government’s appreciation. Among the 99 senior civil servants selected for recognition, five lucky winners went home with brand-new vehicles following a raffle draw, while the remaining 94 individuals in that category received one million Naira each. The junior category was not left out, as five standout staff members were awarded five million Naira each, with another 73 employees receiving five hundred thousand Naira each for their contributions to the state.
Beyond the individual cash and car prizes, the Governor made a special announcement regarding the leadership of the Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation. Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, the Director-General of the office, was promoted to the position of Permanent Secretary. According to reports, the Governor also donated ten million Naira to the entire staff of that office as a reward for their efforts in elevating the profile of Lagos State on both national and global stages.
While addressing the gathered officials, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that excellence in public service remains a top priority for his administration. He encouraged all civil servants to remain diligent and consistent, reminding them that hard work does not go unnoticed in the current dispensation. The Governor noted that the luncheon was more than just a meal; it was a testament to the fact that those who go above and beyond for the people of Lagos will always be celebrated and supported.
The atmosphere at the Alausa Secretariat was one of immense joy as the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the recognition. This initiative is expected to boost morale across the state’s workforce, as the government continues to look for ways to harmonize the welfare of its employees with the growing demands of a mega-city. These awards cover staff from not just the central ministries but also from Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas across the state.
