In a significant display of cultural solidarity, the Non-Indigenes in Lagos Consultative Forum has extended its congratulations to Mr Seyi Tinubu following his installation as the Okanlomo of Yorubaland. The forum described the prestigious title as a deep ancestral honor that carries a heavy weight of moral responsibility within the Yoruba traditional institution.
In a formal message signed by its Coordinator, Hon. Steve S. Oswald, the group noted that this revered title is far more than a ceremonial badge. Instead, they see it as a solemn call to serve humanity and a commitment to the heritage of the Yoruba people. The forum emphasized that such traditional honors demand a high level of humility, wisdom, and a dedication to justice and compassion.
As a body representing the interests of various ethnic groups living and working in Lagos, the forum used the occasion to highlight the state’s unique position as Nigeria’s melting pot. They reaffirmed that unity in diversity remains the region’s greatest strength and called for continued focus on the welfare and dignity of non-indigenous residents, whose social and economic contributions are vital to the prosperity of the state.
The forum further observed that Seyi Tinubu’s emergence as the Okanlomo at a relatively young age serves as a beacon of hope for a new era of inclusive leadership. They believe his new role provides a unique platform to bridge the gap between different generations and cultures, fostering a spirit of harmony and mutual respect among all residents of Yorubaland, regardless of their background or faith.
Expressing full confidence in his ability to lead, the group stated that they trust his tenure will be defined by the noble ideals of fairness and advocacy for the common good. The message wrapped up with prayers for his long life and divine wisdom, with the forum wishing him a reign that contributes significantly to national unity and impactful service to the people.
