On October 11, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, etched her name into the history books twice. Spending a rigorous 24 hours surrounded by an array of cosmetics, Tacha successfully transformed the faces of 144 individuals, securing two distinct Guinness World Record titles for her unprecedented feat.
The record breaking effort began with the achievement of the most cosmetic makeovers in 8 hours, where Tacha completed an astounding 82 transformations. She then pushed past the clock to complete a total of 144 makeovers in 24 hours, comfortably surpassing the previous 24 hour record by more than 30 people. Each finished makeover was a full transformation, strictly requiring foundation, concealer, blush, two eyeshadows, mascara, lip liner and gloss, finishing powder, and shaped eyebrows.
Tacha vividly recalled the emotional confirmation of her victory, describing a scene of raw elation to Guinness World Records. “I screamed, cried, hugged my sister and assistants. We were all overwhelmed,” she recounted. “It felt like the whole of Nigeria was celebrating with me. Seeing the comments online, the love, the excitement, it felt like every person who had ever believed in me was standing right there.”
For Tacha, makeup has always transcended mere aesthetics; it has served as her safe space and a powerful medium for self expression. Her life long fascination with colours and beauty started in childhood. Despite her mother’s strong disapproval as a devoted church worker who would often discard the products Tacha’s persistence never wavered, as she would save money to buy them again.
It was this same inherent love and resilience that fueled her through the grueling record attempt. Tacha explained that her achievement is a direct result of courage and tenacity. “This record was born from that same spirit, resilience and the courage to stand out,” she said. “I wanted to show that Nigerian women can achieve anything they put their minds to, that creativity is powerful, and that African women deserve global recognition.”
Tacha sees her world records as a victory far greater than a personal milestone. She dedicated the achievement to every girl who has dared to rebuild, every creative who has faced doubt, and every dreamer who believes that greatness can emerge from any corner of the world. “I want my story to remind the world that greatness has no geography, and that Africa’s creative power deserves to be seen, celebrated, and remembered.” A massive congratulations to Tacha on this truly inspiring achievement!
