The Public Enlightenment Movement (PEM) has stepped forward to vigorously counter recent allegations suggesting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has neglected Northern Nigeria in terms of infrastructure development. According to the advocacy group, the administration has achieved substantial milestones across the region in a short period.
Nuhu Abdullahi, the Coordinator of PEM and a well-known film actor from Kano, highlighted numerous infrastructural projects executed under the current administration. Speaking at a special gathering in Kano on Sunday, Abdullahi confirmed that the movement is now actively engaged in the third phase of its campaign aimed at informing the public about President Tinubu’s activities in the North.
“We are here to present clear information on the development efforts unfolding across Northern Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Abdullahi stated.
Focusing on Community Needs
The PEM Coordinator noted that their public enlightenment initiative is meticulously phased. “After the successful execution of the first and second phases of this initiative, which laid the groundwork for wider national progress under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we gathered here [for] the third phase, which focuses directly on addressing the immediate needs of communities across the North,” he explained.
Highlighting some of the tangible achievements in this critical third phase, Abdullahi pointed to major infrastructure projects spearheaded by President Tinubu.
A significant healthcare project is the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre in Kumo, Gombe State. Abdullahi noted that this project is supported by the President to bring quality healthcare closer to families in the North-East and alleviate the burden of long-distance medical travel.
Furthermore, key roads across the North are receiving focused attention from the Presidency. These include vital transport links such as the Bauchi to Gombe corridor, the Nasarawa to Abuja route, the Gashua to Potiskum road, and the strategically important Gembu link, which connects toward the Cameroon border.
This development reflects a sustained commitment to improving regional connectivity and access to essential social services.
