Two Nigerian women have been arrested by railway police in Delhi, India, after officers allegedly found 2.28 kilograms of cocaine valued at about Rs20 crore, approximately N380 million.
The suspects, identified as 43 year old Chikanso James and 41 year old Happiness Okoye, were arrested during a patrol at Platform One of Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
Police said the women attracted the officers’ attention because of their suspicious behaviour. A search allegedly led to the discovery of 11 packets of suspected cocaine in James’s possession.
Forensic experts later confirmed the substance as cocaine, while investigators linked the consignment to an alleged drug trafficking network operating between Mumbai and the Delhi NCR region.
Authorities said James told investigators that the drugs were collected from Vikaspuri. Police are now working to identify other members of the alleged network and trace its supply and financial links.
James has been remanded in police custody, while Okoye was placed in judicial custody as investigations continue.
