The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has officially cleared the way for two senior officials to return to their posts following a brief period of suspension. Dr. Danlami Hayyo, the Mandate Secretary for Education, and Mr. Michael Ango, the Acting Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, have both been reinstated to their respective roles within the administration.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the directive for their return is with immediate effect. This decision was confirmed in a briefing monitored by Reports signaling a resolution to the issues that led to their initial removal from office.
The suspension of Dr. Hayyo had previously sparked conversations across the capital city after he was held responsible for a lapse in administrative oversight. It was reported that senior officials under his supervision had issued an unauthorized circular directing schools to end their first-term session earlier than the officially approved academic calendar. This move was seen as a breach of protocol, prompting the Minister to take swift disciplinary action.
While the officials are back at their desks, the reinstatement came with a very clear message from the Minister. Wike emphasized that his administration has zero tolerance for indiscipline or any actions that undermine the established procedures of the FCT. He warned that all officials must remain committed to their duties, as the primary goal remains the efficient running of the territory’s affairs.
With this development, activities at the Education Secretariat and the FCT Internal Revenue Service are expected to return to their normal pace. For many observers, this move reflects the Minister’s leadership style of balancing firm discipline with the need for administrative continuity.
