2027: Gbenga Daniel on Why Tinubu Deserves a Second Term

ZoyolsBlog

Former Ogun State Governor and current Senator, Gbenga Daniel, has reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election, describing him as a courageous leader and a true bastion of democracy. Daniel made these remarks in Igode town, Sagamu Local Government Area, during his Midterm Community Assessment and the commissioning of the Renewed Hope International Market.

Highlighting Tinubu’s leadership over the past two years, Daniel praised the president for steering the nation’s economy, tackling critical and often controversial issues, and reengineering national governance protocols. “Our support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sacrosanct,” Daniel said. “He has provided the country with conscious leadership, redirecting our economy and charting a new path for progress.”

Daniel cited specific policy decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidies and reforms in foreign exchange management, as examples of Tinubu’s boldness in addressing longstanding economic challenges. He emphasized that these moves have stabilized markets, increased state and local government allocations, and returned significant funds for developmental projects.

“The Students’ Loan Scheme and other federal interventions are being well-received nationwide,” Daniel added. “Many of these initiatives align with the goals of our Gateway Front Foundation, which has impacted thousands of lives in Ogun State over the past 25 years through educational support and the establishment of tertiary institutions.”

Reflecting on his long-standing political alliance with Tinubu, Daniel recounted, “During my tenure as governor, many of our policies in Ogun State were inspired by Lagos State under Tinubu. From the Gateway Response Squad to road maintenance initiatives, we modeled our programs on his successful strategies.”

He stressed that Tinubu’s re-election is not merely a partisan matter but a necessary step for national progress. “A leader of Tinubu’s calibre, who has paid his dues and consistently demonstrated courage, deserves the mandate to continue his transformative agenda,” Daniel said.

In addition to endorsing Tinubu, Daniel highlighted his achievements in the Senate. As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, he has overseen the construction of a new naval base, including staff housing, administrative buildings, and perimeter security. Plans for a naval secondary school and hospital are underway, promising not only enhanced security but economic development for surrounding communities.

Daniel also discussed ongoing efforts to create a new state from the old Ijebu Province, a move he described as justified and capable of opening new opportunities for federal allocations, employment, and regional development. He acknowledged the first steps toward a South West Development Commission, noting Tinubu’s administration has supported this long-standing regional demand.

Finally, Daniel appealed to the people of Ogun East to renew both his mandate and that of President Tinubu in 2027, underscoring their shared vision for progress, stability, and prosperity.
