Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has praised the leadership of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies for their commitment, patriotism, and tireless efforts in safeguarding the public. His remarks came during the closing ceremony of a two-week intelligence training program for newly recruited police constables in Ilorin.

The training, organized by the Kwara State Command, saw the participation of 142 constables. Governor AbdulRazaq, speaking through his Senior Special Assistant on Security, Alhaji Muyideen Aliyu, encouraged the new officers to embrace their duties as a solemn covenant with the public.

“Distinguished constables, as you step into the field, remember the oath you swore to serve our country. Let integrity guide you, courage drive you, and service define your legacy,” he said.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the skills the new recruits acquired during the program, including threat assessment, source handling, digital forensics, and community intelligence. He emphasized that these capabilities will be essential in transforming raw information into actionable insights for public safety.

“I urge you to approach every patrol, every report, and even the quietest conversation as a patriotic duty to our nation. The stability of Nigeria rests on your vigilance. The actions of a constable in Ilorin today can prevent crises elsewhere tomorrow. Your badge is not just metal; it represents a covenant with citizens who sleep safely because you are awake,” he added.

Governor AbdulRazaq also called on the public to continue supporting the government and security agencies in efforts to enhance safety and maintain peace throughout the state.

Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, highlighted that the training aimed to strengthen professionalism, discipline, and operational efficiency, which are essential pillars of modern policing. He commended the participants for their dedication and encouraged them to apply their newly acquired knowledge in their daily duties.

“You have shown determination to learn, adapt, and uphold the values of integrity, courage, and respect for human rights. These skills must reflect in your interactions with the public, as you are ambassadors of the Force and the face of policing in our communities,” the CP stated.

CP Ojo also recognized Governor AbdulRazaq for funding the program and consistently supporting the State Police Command to perform effectively. He extended gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ebgentokun Adeolu Kayode, for his vision in promoting professionalism across the Force, which inspired initiatives like this training.

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including four former Assistant Inspectors General of Police: Baba Adisa Bolanta, Babatunde Ishola Babaita, Fimihan Adeoye, and Tokumbo Owolabi, who joined in celebrating the achievements of the new constables.
