Airtel Nigeria has unveiled its latest innovation, the SmartConnect 5G Outdoor Unit Router, designed to provide fast, reliable, and affordable internet access to homes and businesses across the country. Priced at N25,000, the router comes with a SIM card, free installation, and a 30-day unlimited data bundle with speeds of up to 50 Mbps. Customers can choose from flexible plans, including N25,000 per month for unlimited 50 Mbps or N45,000 per month for unlimited 100 Mbps.
The SmartConnect router features an outdoor design that captures stronger and more stable signals, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity even in densely populated urban and peri-urban areas. The device supports up to 64 simultaneous connections, has a built-in power backup that lasts up to five to six hours during power outages, and includes parental and usage controls for managing browsing access.
Airtel Nigeria’s CEO, Dinesh Balsingh, emphasized that the company’s mission is to democratize access to technology. “With SmartConnect, we are removing the barriers of cost and complexity. Every household and every small business deserves to be connected without compromise.” The Marketing Director, Ismail Adeshina, added that the product was designed with the Nigerian reality in mind, providing reliability and confidence that the router will keep users online despite power cuts or network fluctuations.
This development is a significant step towards expanding broadband access in Nigeria, and Airtel’s SmartConnect router is poised to make a meaningful impact on the country’s digital landscape.
