The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially laid out the roadmap for its upcoming national convention, setting the stage for a series of internal elections that will reshape the party’s leadership across the country. According to the newly released schedule, the climax of these activities is slated for March 2026, following a comprehensive process that begins at the grassroots level.
The announcement was made public on Saturday by the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, through his verified social media account. Basiru confirmed that the timeline adheres strictly to the provisions of Articles 11 and 17 of the APC Constitution. The primary goal is to ensure a structured and constitutional transition of party officials from the ward level all the way to the national stage.
The journey toward the convention kicks off with a massive digital drive. The party will commence its membership e-registration on Monday, December 1, 2025. This window will remain open for two months, closing on January 30, 2026, to allow for an updated and verified database of party members before any voting begins.
Once the registration phase is complete, the political pace will quicken in February 2026. The party plans to issue official notices for congresses to all state chapters and the Federal Capital Territory on February 2. This will be followed closely by a tight window for the purchase and submission of forms for those vying for positions at the ward and local government levels, scheduled between February 4 and February 9.
To ensure the credibility of the aspirants, the APC will inaugurate its screening committees on February 10, with the actual vetting process taking place from February 11 to February 13. These ward and local government congresses will serve as the foundation for the subsequent state and zonal meetings, eventually leading up to the much-anticipated national gathering in March.
