Arokodare Scores on Ajax Debut in Preseason Victory

Zoyols News

Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare made an immediate impact on his Ajax debut after finding the net in the club’s 3 to 2 pre season victory over FC Volendam on Sunday.

The Nigerian forward, who recently arrived at the Dutch giants on a season long loan from English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, announced his arrival in style with a late goal during the entertaining friendly encounter.

Arokodare began the match on the bench before being introduced in the 71st minute in place of Brazilian striker Marcos Leonardo. His influence was felt almost instantly as he brought fresh energy to Ajax’s attack.

The 25 year old crowned his debut with a goal in the 88th minute after reacting quickest to a dangerous delivery from defender Anton Gaaei. The cross created uncertainty inside the FC Volendam penalty area, allowing the Nigerian striker to seize the opportunity and calmly finish for Ajax’s third goal of the match.

His strike helped seal a hard fought victory for Ajax as the Eredivisie side continued preparations for the 2026 and 2027 campaign with another encouraging pre season performance.

Arokodare completed his move to the Amsterdam club earlier this week, joining on a loan deal that will keep him at Ajax for the entire season. The agreement also includes an option that could see the Dutch club make the transfer permanent if he performs well during his stay.

The move offers the Nigerian international another important opportunity to showcase his qualities at one of Europe’s most successful clubs after building experience across different leagues.

Following his dream debut, Arokodare will now be aiming to build on the positive start by earning more playing time and establishing himself as a regular starter in the Ajax squad.

With the new Eredivisie season drawing closer, the Super Eagles forward will be eager to maintain his impressive form, strengthen his place in the team and continue making a strong case for regular involvement with Nigeria’s national side.
