Actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, better known as Baba Ijesha, has walked out of prison after spending more than three years in custody over allegations of sexual assault. His release on Friday November 14 2025 followed a decision of the Appeal Court which cleared him of the charges that had kept him behind bars.
Actor Yomi Fabiyi, who confirmed the development, shared his excitement on social media. He wrote that Baba Ijesha was now free and described the judgement as a major relief. He also stated that the ruling cleared the actor of claims that he had any sexual involvement with a minor, calling the earlier narrative a troubling episode driven by false claims and public sentiment.
Baba Ijesha had been sentenced on July 14 2022 by the Lagos State High Court to a sixteen year jail term over accusations involving a fourteen year old girl. With the latest judgement, he returns to public life after a lengthy legal battle that kept him away from his career and the spotlight.
