In a delightful nod to the holiday season, veteran Nollywood actor and producer Afeez Owo has sent fans and colleagues into fits of laughter after sharing photos of himself transformed into Santa Claus. Dressed in the iconic red and white suit, the husband of actress Mide Martins took to his Instagram page to spread some festive cheer with a playful message.
In his caption, the filmmaker, who is affectionately known as “Baba Keresi” in this new look, extended warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to his followers. The lighthearted post quickly caught the attention of his industry peers. Actress Wumi Toriola teased him about his missing “Ghana Must Go” bag of gifts, while others like Allwell Ademola and Bisola Badmus joined in with hilarious comments, jokingly comparing his unique Santa style to a local version they dubbed “Sati Guru.”
This playful display comes at a time when the actor is also celebrating the enduring strength of his marriage. In a recent appearance on Oyinmomo TV, Afeez opened up about his 22-year union with Mide Martins, revealing that they have built their home on a foundation of balance and mutual respect. He shared that they even have unique pet names for each other—Iya Alekuleja and Baba Elere—which reflect the deep closeness they’ve maintained since tying the knot in 2003.
Reflecting on their journey, Afeez also touched on the challenges they’ve overcome, specifically referencing the widely publicized rumors of their separation in 2016. He admitted that a minor argument at the time escalated unnecessarily, partly due to outside interference and the magnifying glass of social media. He candidly noted that he didn’t handle the situation perfectly but expressed gratitude that they were able to reconcile and emerge stronger.
The couple, who are proud parents to two daughters, remain one of the most respected pairs in the Yoruba movie industry. As fans celebrate Afeez Owo’s festive spirit, many are also applauding the transparency and resilience he and Mide have shown in navigating both the highs and lows of their two decades together.
