The atmosphere at the Mikano Experience Centre in Lagos was nothing short of electric this past Sunday as the inaugural Kiekie Unscripted Experience reached its dramatic peak. When the dust finally settled, Benjamin Omosivie, widely recognized by his creative alias Benriffs, stood tall as the champion, walking away with the keys to a brand new Mikano Changan CS15 SUV.
Securing a staggering 91 percent of the total votes, Benriffs proved his mettle in a grueling contest that started with a massive pool of over 500 hopefuls. From the initial stages, the competition demanded more than just raw talent; it required quick thinking, adaptability, and an undeniable stage presence. The journey saw these young creatives—ranging from musicians and dancers to comedians and spoken word artists—whittled down through intense unscripted challenges. Benriffs navigated these hurdles with consistent flair, ultimately outperforming the final 22 contenders to clinch the title.
Beyond the main performance category, the event also served as a celebration of culinary excellence. The finale hosted the prize-giving session for a cooking challenge presided over by celebrated culinary experts like Hilda Baci and Mama Deola, with winners walking away with significant cash rewards and professional-grade kitchen equipment.
Reflecting on the success of the event, the show’s creator and host, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, better known as Kiekie, emphasized the need for such platforms in the current entertainment landscape. She noted that while Nigeria is brimming with untapped potential, the pathway to visibility is often blocked by a lack of accessible opportunities. Her vision for the platform was to bridge that gap, giving young, driven individuals a stage to prove their capabilities to the world.
The event drew a massive crowd of industry heavyweights who gathered to witness the crowning of the new star. Among those spotted at the venue were Bovi, IK Osakioduwa, Eniola Badmus, Femi Adebayo, Kenny Blaq, Stan Nze, Jessica Obasi, Folagade Banks, Do2dtun, Aisha Lawal, Taaooma, Veekee James, Bisola Aiyeola, VJ Adams, and Osas Ighodaro.
For the sponsors, particularly Mikano Motors, the partnership was about more than just branding; it was a commitment to the future of the Nigerian creative economy. By providing the grand prize, they highlighted their dedication to nurturing the next generation of talent and ensuring that emerging artists have the tools and support needed to thrive on a larger stage.
