The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Esther Walson-Jack, has challenged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to strive to make a meaningful impact in their host communities, going beyond the call of duty.
Speaking in Abuja at the Annual Conference of the Association of NYSC National Honours Award Winners, Walson-Jack emphasized the importance of impactful community service, describing it as a lasting legacy corps members can leave behind. She urged members of the association to promote honesty, dedication, and selfless service, reflecting the core values of the NYSC scheme.
The event brought together past and present recipients of the NYSC National Honours Award, recognizing outstanding community development service. Association President, Dr Emmanuel Eluu, commended members for their service and announced plans to establish an awareness committee to sensitize corps members on selfless service and community participation.
One awardee, Umar Babayo, a Bauchi State University graduate, trained over 200 youths in skills acquisition during his service in Katsina State. He expressed excitement over his induction, describing the award as a recognition of community service.
