It was another dramatic night of Champions League football on Wednesday, with goals and surprises across Europe.
At Anfield, Liverpool clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid. The Reds stormed into an early lead through Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, but Atletico hit back as Marcos Llorente struck twice to level the game. Just when it seemed the visitors might leave with a point, Virgil van Dijk rose late on to head home the winner and seal the night for Jürgen Klopp’s men.
In Germany, Bayern Munich proved too strong for Chelsea, cruising to a 3-1 win. England captain Harry Kane was the star of the show, grabbing a brace to underline Bayern’s dominance under Vincent Kompany.
Elsewhere, defending champions Paris Saint-Germain brushed aside Atalanta 3-0, while debutants Pafo and Bodo/Glimt both settled for draws in their outings. Inter Milan also enjoyed a strong performance as Marcus Thuram’s double secured a 2-0 triumph over Ajax in Amsterdam.
