Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has urged his teammates to move swiftly from celebrating their semi-final triumph to preparing for the decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup play-off final against DR Congo tomorrow.
The Fulham star emphasized that while a brief moment of celebration is deserved, the upcoming match holds far greater significance for Nigeria’s World Cup ambitions.
“For now, we have to celebrate a little and then focus on the next game on Sunday,” Chukwueze said. “Sunday’s game is the most important. We have won today, but all our focus must be on Sunday.”
He highlighted the importance of team unity and the trust placed in them by the coaching staff, calling on his teammates to channel the dedication and hard work shown throughout the qualification process into their performance in the final.
“The team has worked together and stayed united… the most important thing is that the coach believes in us,” Chukwueze continued. “We have been preparing for this since March. Now it’s time to give everything we have.”
The winner of the Nigeria versus DR Congo clash will move on to the final intercontinental play-off round in March 2026.
