Mr Dominic Nwuzor, who managed the late Nollywood comic legend John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, has appealed to the Enugu State Government to step in and support the actor’s children through educational scholarships.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Zoyols Blog, Nwuzor explained that the appeal is driven by a desire to secure the future of the late actor’s children, especially now that their father is no longer around to provide for them. He noted that Mr Ibu, who passed away in March 2024, was from Nkanu West and spent decades using his talent to project not just himself, but his state and country, to audiences across Africa and beyond.
Nwuzor, the Chief Executive Officer of Don Singles International, managed the beloved actor for over twenty years and said the request aligns with the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen access to education, particularly for vulnerable families. According to him, helping the children acquire quality education would empower them to become self-reliant and honour their father’s legacy.
He expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah, describing him as someone who places strong value on education and social support. Nwuzor added that the appeal remains ongoing, stressing that the late actor’s contributions to entertainment and culture deserve to be remembered in meaningful ways.
Mr Ibu remains one of Nigeria’s most cherished comic actors, celebrated for his natural humour, expressive delivery and unforgettable on-screen characters. His performances, especially in the popular Mr Ibu film series, earned him widespread admiration and a lasting reputation as one of the entertainers who brought laughter into countless homes across the continent.
