Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the immediate-past Governor of Ekiti State, has expressed his admiration for Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s leadership, describing him as his greatest achievement. Fayemi made this remark at the inauguration of the newly constructed Itapa-Ijelu-Omu road, a project that was part of the activities marking the third anniversary of the Oyebanji administration.
According to Fayemi, Oyebanji has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to transforming Ekiti State, building on the foundation laid by previous administrations. “He is my greatest achievement because I have my own imperfections, but those imperfections he has managed to either correct or reduce them,” Fayemi said. He praised Oyebanji for his focus on development and his refusal to engage in unnecessary politicking.
Fayemi’s commendation was not limited to just words; he highlighted several projects that were started during his administration but completed by Oyebanji. These include the Itapa-Ijelu-Omu, Omisanjana-Atlas, Agric Olope-Moferere, Ijurin-Ayegunle, GRA Third Extension, Ikole-Ara-Isinbode, Ikere-Ilawe roads, and the Ekiti Ring Road. “I was counting roads that we started and could not complete, and I cannot recollect any that have not been completed now,” Fayemi said.
In a show of solidarity, the BAO Grassroots Support for President Tinubu, an APC support group, has also praised Governor Oyebanji for his leadership. The group commended Oyebanji for living up to expectations and delivering on his mandate to the people of Ekiti State. According to Prince Tunji Ogunlola, the group’s state Coordinator, and Mr. Odunayo Ogunmola, the Director of Publicity, Oyebanji’s performance has been stellar, and the people of Ekiti State have every reason to be proud of him.
The group also lauded the National Working Committee of the APC for upholding constitutionalism and due process in Oyebanji’s adoption as the party’s consensus candidate ahead of the 2026 governorship poll in Ekiti State. They pointed to the recent approval of the Ekiti Agro Cargo International Airport for commercial flight operations as a testament to Oyebanji’s effective leadership. This development, according to the group, is an unprecedented achievement that Ekiti State at home and in diaspora should be proud of.
Furthermore, the group credited Oyebanji with transforming Ekiti State into a hub for commercial agriculture. Through massive investments in the sector, Oyebanji’s administration has provided employment opportunities for thousands of young commercial farmers and sold excess farm produce to members of the public at highly subsidized prices. This initiative has not only boosted the state’s economy but also improved the lives of its citizens.
Reports shows that Oyebanji’s leadership has brought about significant growth and development to Ekiti State, making it a model of good governance and purposeful leadership in Nigeria.
