Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has made it clear he has no plans to leave the club this month.
Speculation had swirled in recent days after the dismissal of head coach Ruben Amorim, with reports suggesting Fernandes might be considering his future at Old Trafford. The story gained traction when Fernandes met with Amorim’s former coach, Carlos Fernandes, sparking fears that the 31-year-old could be exploring an exit.
Sources close to the matter, however, insist that despite the recent turbulence—Darren Fletcher stepping in as interim boss for two games and Michael Carrick taking over as caretaker for the remainder of the season—Fernandes remains fully committed to United. He had always intended to reassess his situation in the summer, when just a year remains on his contract.
The Portuguese star, who turned down a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal last summer and continues to attract interest from the Saudi Pro League, is focused on staying in Europe if he ever chooses to leave. Fernandes recently admitted he was “hurt” by the knowledge that United were open to selling him, noting that senior officials lacked the courage to tell him outright, while Amorim had preferred he remain at the club.
For now, Fernandes is focused on helping Manchester United navigate the season and remains loyal to the club and its supporters.
