The Minister of Livestock Development, Mr Idi Maiha, has committed to working closely with the Edo State Ministry of Livestock Development to elevate the state’s entire livestock sector into a regional hub covering red meat, poultry, piggery, goats, and cattle.
This initiative follows Maiha’s promise to support the rehabilitation of Edo’s cattle ranches in Igarra and Ubiaja, a commitment reinforced during his recent on-site visit to the state in the first quarter of 2026.
The minister made this announcement after a detailed briefing by Edo State’s Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof Omorodion Ikpomwosa, highlighting the state’s plans and ongoing efforts to modernize and expand its livestock operations.
This partnership signals a strategic push to strengthen livestock production, enhance food security, and create sustainable economic opportunities within Edo and the wider region.
