Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has held a meeting with the Transition Council entrusted with overseeing traditional and administrative affairs in Ijebu-Ode during the process of installing a new Awujale.
The session, which took place on Friday in Abeokuta, was confirmed by Rasak Sekoni, Information Officer at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Addressing the Council, Governor Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, emphasized that the installation of a new Awujale must follow a well-structured, transparent, and carefully coordinated process.
He reminded the gathering that the inauguration of the Transition Council in August was a deliberate step to preserve the traditional and administrative functions long associated with the revered Awujale Palace.
Governor Abiodun pledged the full support of his administration, noting that the Council’s effectiveness would play a vital role in sustaining the legacy of the late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
He further urged the members to uphold unity, fairness, and impartiality, particularly as the process of filling the vacant stool begins. According to him, neutrality and a collective sense of responsibility remain essential to ensuring the wishes of the people and the heritage of the institution are duly respected.
