Former President Goodluck Jonathan is set to chair the launch of the biography of former Akwa Ibom State Governor Obong Victor Attah, scheduled for next Thursday in Abuja. The unveiling will coincide with Attah’s 87th birthday.
Udeme Nana, a member of the planning committee and former media adviser to Attah, revealed at a news briefing in Uyo that the event will also feature President Bola Tinubu as special guest of honour, Senate President Godswill Akpabio as guest of honour, and the state governor, Umo Eno, as chief host.
Nana said, “On Thursday, 20th November, His Excellency Architect Obong Victor Attah will present his biography, titled Attah: Architect of a New Democratic Dawn. The chairman of the occasion will be former President Goodluck Jonathan, while President Tinubu and Senate President Akpabio will grace the event. Governor Umo Eno will serve as chief host.”
He praised Attah as a transformative leader, describing him as “one of the best presidents Nigeria never had. Since 1999, I have believed that if Obong Attah had become president, he would have turned the fortunes of this country around. He is a consummate patriot, a deep thinker, creative, cerebral, versatile, and hardworking.”
Obong Victor Attah served as Akwa Ibom State Governor from 1999 to 2007, having been re-elected in 2003. A trained architect, he studied at Leeds College of Art, Liverpool University, and Columbia University, and later became national president of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
During his tenure, Attah’s administration prioritized infrastructure, including roads, public buildings, and educational institutions, as well as urban planning initiatives in Uyo. His contributions to the state were recognized with the naming of the Victor Attah International Airport in his honour.
