Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the immediate formation of a dedicated task force to enhance safety at motor parks and other key public spaces across the state.
The announcement, made on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, emphasized the initiative’s goal of curbing criminal activity, especially at major entry and exit points in Kano metropolis. Motor parks were highlighted as particularly vulnerable due to heavy foot traffic and recent arrests of suspected criminals at Kofar Ruwa Motor Park.
The task force will conduct continuous surveillance, gather intelligence, and coordinate security operations across motor parks and other high-risk locations. Its responsibilities extend to filling stations and other public spaces where large numbers of people converge, aiming to prevent criminal activities before they escalate.
Governor Yusuf framed the initiative as a proactive strategy to strengthen collaboration among security agencies, safeguard residents, and demonstrate the government’s commitment to public safety.
