Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, is set to promote six high-ranking chiefs on the Otun Olubadan line this Friday, in line with the provisions of the Ibadan Chieftaincy Law.
These promotions come as a result of vacancies created when Oba Ladoja ascended the throne as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, having previously held the title of Otun Olubadan.
Those scheduled for elevation include Oba Eddy Oyewole, Oba Kola Daisi, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, Oba Adebayo Akande, Senior Chief Lekan Alabi, and Senior Chief Kola Babalola. The new appointments will see Oba Oyewole advance from Osi Olubadan to Otun Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade rise from Ekerin Olubadan to Asipa Olubadan, and Oba Adebayo Akande move from Ekaarun Olubadan to Ekerin Olubadan. Senior Chief Lekan Alabi will be elevated from Maye Olubadan to Abese Olubadan, while Senior Chief Kola Babalola will progress from Abese Olubadan to Ekaarun Olubadan.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the newly constructed Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area. Sources close to the palace revealed that this will be the first traditional event conducted by Oba Ladoja since his coronation on September 26, 2025.
The occasion is expected to draw notable dignitaries and well-wishers, reflecting the enduring respect and cultural significance of Ibadan’s chieftaincy traditions.
