Lagos 2027: No Anointed Candidate Yet, Says APC’s Jandor

Zoyols News

As the political atmosphere in Lagos begins to heat up ahead of the 2027 governorship elections, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has moved to clear the air regarding the internal race within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Addressing recent rumors, the prominent aspirant dismissed claims that a preferred candidate has already been endorsed or “anointed” by the party’s high command or its influential chieftains.

Through a statement released by his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, and shared with  Reports, Jandor emphasized that the contest remains wide open. He noted that despite the various speculations circulating in political circles, the official stance of the Lagos State APC leadership remains unchanged. The party chairman has previously communicated that no single individual has been handpicked, ensuring that all interested aspirants will have the opportunity to participate in a transparent and credible primary election scheduled for next month.

Jandor reiterated his personal commitment to the democratic process and the principle of party supremacy. He mentioned that he is currently focused on strengthening his grassroots structures and engaging directly with party members across the state. While he is fully prepared for a competitive primary, he also expressed a deep respect for party discipline.  Adediran stated that if the party leadership eventually decides to move forward with a consensus candidate, he would fully align with that collective decision, regardless of who is chosen.

The governorship hopeful also cautioned party faithful against misinterpreting the vocal campaigns of specific individuals or interest groups. He clarified that while various groups are free to promote their preferred choices, their actions should not be mistaken for the official position of the party or its national leader.

Ultimately, his message was one of readiness and loyalty. Adediran urged members to remain patient and wait for formal communication from the party hierarchy, noting that when the leadership finally speaks, it will be with a unified voice that everyone is expected to follow. For now, the focus remains on building a robust platform and preparing for a fair contest that reflects the will of the APC members in Lagos.
