Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central is poised to return to the Senate on September 23, marking the end of her six-month suspension. Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, confirmed that her resumption will follow her return from a trip to London, United Kingdom.
Giwa assured that the Senate leadership has no objections to her return. “She’s ready to resume her term. She’s in London, everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption,” he said.
He added that the senator will be welcomed back without hindrance. “We have been told that even the leadership of the Senate is ready to receive her. There is no obstacle at all,” Giwa noted.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6 by the Senate under Godswill Akpabio’s leadership over alleged insubordination, a move that sparked significant controversy and a series of legal challenges. Her upcoming return is being closely watched as a pivotal moment in her political career.
