Ndidi named captain as Super Eagles gear up for 2025 AFCON

ZoyolsBlog

Wilfred Ndidi will lead the Super Eagles as captain at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. The seasoned defensive midfielder also captained Nigeria during the recent CAF 2026 World Cup Playoffs held in the same country.

Ndidi missed last year’s delayed 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire due to injury, but at 28, he now stands as the most senior Nigerian international in the squad. William Ekong, though named in the provisional list released by head coach Eric Chelle, will not feature in the tournament as he focuses on securing a new contract with his Saudi Arabian club.

A product of Nigeria’s U17 and U20 teams, Ndidi has earned 71 caps since making his senior international debut in August 2015. His leadership and experience will be pivotal as the Super Eagles aim for glory in Morocco this December.
