The Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF) has rejected reports that some political actors are planning a protest in Abuja calling for the release of Biafran separatist leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The forum described the planned demonstration as a “desperate move” by politicians out of touch with the realities confronting Nigerian youths.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the forum’s president, Comrade Murtala Mohammed Gamji, emphasized that the judiciary should be allowed to handle Kanu’s case without interference. “As far as it stands now, he is guilty until proven otherwise,” Gamji stated, highlighting the need to respect the rule of law.
The forum also announced plans to organize a three-day youth solidarity march from October 21 to 23 in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “This is a message of hope for all Nigerian youths, whether they support the president or not. We are celebrating initiatives like the student loan program introduced by President Tinubu,” Gamji said.
Paramilitary youth organizations, including the Peace Corps, Man O’ War, Boys Brigade, and Civilian JTF, are expected to participate in the march. Gamji underscored the importance of unity, calling for collaboration across religious and ethnic lines to strengthen national cohesion.
